WHAT FORM OF VOID PROTECTION ARE YOU
CURRENTLY USING?

Buildsafe Void Platforms installed at frame stage are rated to FLOOR LOAD, not light duty scaffold, allowing you to work ON and ABOVE the platform.

Our Stair Void Platforms are rated to comply with the purposes for which builders intend to use them. If you are to permit a tradesman to work over the void in the roof space, the minumum strength for the platform should be that of the adjacent floor, or 1.5kPa, ie: 153kg per m².

Worksafe have clarified this requirement and added that it need only be engineered for strength and not deflection.

By designing our platform as a temporary floor, the builder is able to:

  • use a mobile scaffold tower on the platform (after verification and authorisation from our office)
  • permit more than two people and their hand tools to work on the platform at any given time
  • use step ladders and trestles on the platform
